Abstract

Primary adenocarcinoma of the bladder accounts for less than 2% of primary bladder cancers. Its prognosis is generally poor compared to transitional cell carcinoma of the bladder. This report describes a case of primary adenocarcinoma of the bladder who had been treated for transitional cell carcinoma of the bladder and includes review of the literatures. A 55-year-old man who had been treated for transitional cell carcinoma of the bladder by transurethral resection of bladder tumor (TURBT) had a 1cm sized non-papillary mass in bladder. We treated it by TURBT and diagnosed it as primary adenocarcinoma. He subsequently underwent prostate sparing radical cystectomy with ileal neobladder and has remained tumor-free for the last three years.
